Joan Hanchett Nature Series presents Pollinator Party!

Thursday, March 30, 2023 • 6:30 pm

Francestown Elementary School

Presenter: Slater Roosa, NH Audubon’s Massabesic Center

Beetles and ants and moths and butterflies, are all unique and specialized insects that rely on plants for their energy needs. Learn about the relationships between plants and their pollinator pals by being introduced to the basics of plant anatomy and entomophilous (insect) pollination.

Concern about what could happen to these insects and plants if populations continue to decline will spark discussion about ways we can help these amazing creatures continue assisting their plant allies by ensuring that their pollen is transported across our gardens!

Slater Roosa, Education Coordinator at NH Audubon’s Massabesic Center in Auburn will be our speaker. He received a B.S. in Biology from Salve Regina University, where he fostered his love of environmental science. Following teaching nature programs, running summer camps and caring for animal ambassadors in Oregon, Slater joined NH Audubon where he became involved in raptor care and interpretive programing at McLane Center. With Slater’s wealth of outdoor education and animal care experience, it promises to be an engaging evening.

The Joan Hanchett Nature Series is a free program for adults and children of all ages. It is sponsored by the Francestown Land Trust, George Holmes Bixby Memorial Library, Francestown News, and the Francestown Conservation Commission.
