The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested Kha Ngoc Le, a Vietnamese national with convictions for voluntary manslaughter, robbery, and burglary offenses in Manchester, New Hampshire.

DHS said Le was among individuals arrested during ICE enforcement operations targeting people the agency described as “criminal illegal aliens.” The department said Le had been convicted of voluntary manslaughter, disorderly conduct, street robbery with a gun, burglary, resident robbery with a weapon, and burglary-forced entry in Manchester.

The arrest was included in a DHS announcement about ICE operations involving people with convictions for murder, sexual offenses, robbery, and other crimes. The department said the operations were part of federal immigration enforcement efforts focused on public safety.

New Hampshire Public Radio reported that local police departments in New Hampshire have participated in immigration enforcement through the 287(g) program. The report said local police made 51 immigration arrests, while ICE conducted 429 arrests involving people from 39 countries.

NHPR also reported that a portion of those arrested by ICE in New Hampshire had criminal convictions or pending criminal charges. The report said the arrests occurred as ICE activity increased in the state.

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations identifies, arrests, and removes noncitizens who are subject to removal from the United States. The agency says ERO also manages detained and non-detained cases and works with federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.

The Department of Homeland Security says U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is responsible for immigration enforcement and related federal law enforcement activities through offices across the country.
