The City of Nashua announced on May 13 that residents can ride the CityBus for free to attend the PAL’s Cone With a Cop event at Hayward’s Ice Cream on Saturday, May 16. The event will take place from noon to 3 p.m., and is open to the public.
The initiative aims to encourage community participation by removing transportation barriers, especially for families with children. According to the announcement, all children aged 12 and under will receive a complimentary scoop of ice cream, courtesy of the Nashua Police Patrolman’s Charity and Hayward’s Ice Cream.
To access the free bus ride, attendees should inform their driver when boarding that they are traveling to or from Hayward’s. The city said riders should use Route 6 or Route 6A and board or disembark at Rivier University before walking to Hayward’s Ice Cream.
Representatives from Nashua Police Department, Nashua Fire Rescue, and AMR will be present at the event. Organizers say this provides an opportunity for local families and children to interact with first responders in an informal setting while enjoying ice cream together.
This community-focused effort is designed to foster positive relationships between residents and public safety personnel while ensuring easy access through public transportation.
