Fidium Fiber Internet and Phone Service Update

85

Several questions have come up about phone lines and Fidium fiber internet. When you get fiber internet, you will also need to switch your phone from the existing copper line to VoIP (Voice over IP - fiber) service. With fiber, the sound quality is much better and monthly service is cheaper than copper lines. VoIP lines cost $15 a month. You get unlimited local and long-distance service.

When you switch to VoIP, you can keep your existing phone number. All types of standard, touch-tone phones can be used. You can use a corded or cordless phone.

It's a good idea to have battery backup since VoIP will not work if the power goes out. An inexpensive UPS Battery Backup is fine - they're available at stores like Best Buy and Amazon. If you have a generator, you can of course use that.

If you need an old-fashioned landline for medical reasons, Fidium can work with you to pair the copper line with a fiber internet connection.

You can find more information on Fidium's FAQ page.  Across the top where it says "Internet" there are several other categories in very light gray font. Click on phone to get more information about VoIP service.

Thanks!
