Washington, D.C. - On May 22 Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), Ranking Member of the Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Disability Assistance and Memorial Affairs (DAMA), helped lead the House in passing the Veterans Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2023. Pappas introduced this legislation alongside Congressman Morgan Luttrell (TX-08). The bill has already passed the Senate and will now be sent to President Biden’s desk for his signature

The bipartisan legislation would increase the rates of compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities, as well as the rates of dependency and indemnity compensation for the survivors of certain veterans as of December 1, 2023. The increase in VA benefits would equal the cost-of-living increase provided for certain Social Security benefits.

“We must ensure veterans' benefits keep pace with our changing economy and that their financial and overall well-being is never left to hang in the balance,” said Congressman Pappas. “I’m thrilled to see this bill to increase VA benefits to match economic trends and cost-of-living pass the House with bipartisan support, and I will continue working to address the concerns of veterans and ensure their needs are met.”
